[Photos] Alter Me Up
At the end of March The Asylum in Birmingham went from being a rock club to hosting a fashion show, organised by Envii. It was really quite a bit more than just a fashion show, including some theatre, a dance troupe and ending with some bands. Actually, four bands, so a bigger line up than many gigs I've been to!

Focus on Imaging
Went over to the NEC today for Focus on Imaging. It was a bit crowded, especially around stands with new cameras on them. I did have a quick play with the 5D3. Autofocus seemed to be really nice.

Not that you could buy one, so I got a 85mm prime and a tripod instead. Need to get out with it soon to see if it will live up to the reputation it has. ([info]kneeshooter, [info]gothindulgence and Taya all rate it very highly)

[Photos] Some remnants from last year.
I've got a few remnants of photography from last year still to share. I was a little late to this shoot as I was distracted by the shed that our bin was in happened to be on fire.

[Photogeeks] 5D Mk 3 launch.
Canon have just announced the 5D mark 3, which is sounding rather tempting.

The MP count has stayed where it is from the mark 2, but 22 is a lot so I don't think that should be much of an issue.
Important for me is the is the AF system, which has come from the 1D-X. This pretty much sells the camera to me. I usually lose the ability to focus at about the same time I'm losing my ability to get enough light with my 30D, and the 5D2 had essentially the same AF as the 30D.
The 5D2 is apparently staying in the product line, which is unusual

Big problem is the official launch pricing. We'll see how much that comes by the middle of the year I guess. Canon have been raising prices quite a bit recently with their new launches, which isn't so good. Radio controlled flashes are nice, but £680 for the new speedlight... Really Canon...

Films
We went out to Warwick arts cinema this week as they were showing a bundle of locally produced short films. I'm glad I went along, but I probably shouldn't have taken [info]keris with me as the films were definitely not her sort of thing. I'll have to grab some of my miserable and weird film buddies[1] for the next one.

You know it isn't going to be a cheerful film when the intro is
"This film was inspired by the death of our 18 year old son in a car crash. We wanted to show the realities of what it does to the friends and family left behind."
But surprisingly I didn't find that as miserably bleak as one of the other films which was introduced as a childrens film.

[1]It is the films that are miserable and weird, not the buddies.

At the end of last year I had a shoot with Crimson Raine to coincide with her having her hair done.

Proofreading before publishing reviews.
A little while ago I was asked by a fan club for Theatres Des Vampires could they use some pics from their Birmingham gig in one of their online publications.

I was fine with that. Then they sent me the link to their online magazine. It looks like they took what was on my LJ, and some extra pics, and used my "review" as well.

Alas, I didn't really do a review. I just made the occasional sarcastic comment about the photos. Still, I did enjoy how it came over when it was mixed up

My stuff starts at page 137 (in the app) or 303 (numbering at the bottom of the page)

Oh, and I am generally pretty impressed with how they have presented everything, someone did a pretty impressive amount of work to get that done.
